This months newsletter is a little slow off the press however better late than never, right!

For most of us the off season is over and the time has come to start training for those spring races. Our newsletter will also be ramping up with event updates, athlete wins, and ways to train for success.

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

REMINDER, TIME IS RUNNIG OUT!

We have setup a webstore (sort of) for Team Redde Endurance kit like the one I am wearing in the picture. These come in a variety of styles; short sleeve, long sleeve, tank, racerback tank, marathoner, etc..
The deadline to place and pay for your order is March 31st 2025. The items that are available are the ones that we have ordered in the past and proofs have been approved for however, if you see any other items you are interested in on the Champion Systems website, let me know and we will see if we can get it added to the order options! These shirts are a good quality and really nice to run in, even in the really hot days.

UPCOMING RACES & EVENTS

There were no races or events in January however we are closing in on some spring events!
We have Rijk that will be participating in the Pieterpad and the plan is 500km over 22 days! Also in July we have a few athletes that will be running the Sinister 7.

NUTRITION & HYDRATION TIPS

We have a webinar style call planned with an elite endurance nutritionist, Elizabeth Inpyn. The plan is for Elizabeth present why we need to fuel and hydrate during endurance events and the best way to go about doing it on race day. I will send out an email once the details are finalized and provide a date for the call, a Google Meet. I will also be asking for any specific questions you may have regarding race day fueling and hydration.


TRAINING & FITNESS TIPS

I posted this on social media and feel it worth a share here in case any of you missed it. It is titled: Why a strong core can enhance your endurance efforts...

When I talk to athletes about the core, it is surprising how many simply reference the 'abs'. They know there are other muscles however admit they can't recall what they are. I break it down to eight muscles and two units that all work together to create the core that all my endurance athletes work on to enhance their endurance efforts.

The first unit of four muscles function together to import stability to the back while creating some of the boundaries of the abdominal cavity. This coordinated work in the unit not only facilitates stability back, but also the pelvis. The muscles in this unit are the deep erector spinae multifidus, diaphragm, transverse abdominis, and pelvis floor muscles.

The second unit of four muscles are intended for creating movement. The muscles in this unit are the internal oblique, external oblique, rectus abdominis, and the erector spinae - outer layers.

How can a strong core benefit you as an endurance athlete, athlete, or in general fitness? By providing stability & balance, reducing the risk injury, and improving the overall athletic performance.
